Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Special Edition debuts with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage Rs.24,700
Xiaomi has unveiled a new variant of the Mi Note 2 phablet in China, dubbed the Mi Note 2 Special Edition. The new variant features 6GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of onboard storage. It has been priced at 2,599 Yuan (Rs.24,700 approx) in China and can now be ordered online in the Black color option. So far, only the 128GB Mi Note 2 variant was available with 6GB of RAM. The 64GB variant, which is now the base Mi Note 2 variant, comes with 4GB of RAM. Apart from the higher amount of RAM onboard, the Mi Note 2 Special Edition is identical to the other variants in terms of hardware specifications.
Announced in October last year, the Mi Note 2 sports a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution, giving it a pixel density of 386 pixels per inch. Powering the Mi Note 2 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 quad-core 64-bit chipset, which, at the time of the phablet’s announcement, was the latest available flagship SoC from Qualcomm. As we mentioned above already, the Mi Note 2 comes in multiple memory configurations with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. There is no microSD card slot on offer, so the memory cannot be further expanded.
The primary camera on the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is a 22.5MP resolution unit with EIS and phase detection autofocus technology. The sensor is coupled with an f/2.0 aperture lens and can capture videos at up to 4K resolution with 30fps frame rate. For selfies, the Mi Note 2 comes with an 8MP snapper on the front, paired with an f/2.0 aperture lens. Rest of the highlights include a USB Type-C port, front-mounted fingerprint scanner, non-removable 4070mAh battery with fast charging support, and an infrared port. In terms of software, the Mi Note 2 boots MIUI 8.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
